Threshold Met for First Round of Payments in Bayer Genetically Modified Rice Settlement

The acreage threshold in this year's $750 million settlement with Bayer Cropscience on behalf of U.S. rice farmers has been met, meaning the settlement is legally binding and Bayer must begin making payments on the first round of claims. The first round of payments to farmers is expected to begin in early January. Gray, Ritter & Graham attorney Don Downing was the court-appointed co-lead plaintiff's counsel. "It's a great way to start off the New Year for thousands of rice farmers and their families," Downing said.
